NYBC Crowns 2018 National Champions at 11th Annual Event

Steel Sports hosted the 11th annual National Youth Baseball Championships on July 23-29 at Baseball Heaven in Yaphank, N.Y., as over 70 teams from a dozen states competed for national titles in the 10U-14U age divisions.

The 74 teams were the most to ever compete in one NYBC Championship Week, and the NYBC also welcomed two international teams, Dominicana and IPL Caribbean All-Stars, for the first time in its history. CBS Sports Network provided live television coverage of 10 games during the week, and each of the 10 games were streamed online at MLB.com.

One of the highlights of the week came off the field during the NYBC Festival Day when New York Yankees pitcher and 2018 American League All-Star Luis Severino visited Baseball Heaven along with MLB legend and Steel Sports advisory board member Dusty Baker. Severino and Baker joined New York radio host Ed Randall for the annual MLB Roundtable and spoke to the players, coaches and families in attendance about a variety of topics. The two also spent time taking photos and meeting with teams.

On the field, the five national championships were won by teams from four different states. California’s La Mirada Coyotes and MVP Hustle Garcia took the 10U and 12U divisions, respectively. New Jersey Select won 11U, North Carolina’s Canes Gallaher captured the 13U title, and the Bronx Bombers from New York took home the 14U championship.

The NYBC also hosted its first Showcase Invitational featuring 40 top 2019-2020 high school graduates who excel on and off the field. The players went through a morning showcase in front of college coaches and then played an East vs. West game on national TV. Former MLB managers Dusty Baker and Bobby Valentine took their familiar place in the dugouts once again and coached the two teams.

New Mexico Welcomes NYBC Qualifier for First Time

For the first time in NYBC history, New Mexico hosted a qualifier with 53 teams vying for six berths to the summer championship in New York. The Baseball Legends organized a first class event with teams from several states and even Mexico.

The LBC Broncos came away from the weekend with two championships in 12U and 13U. Both teams went undefeated and put on impressive displays with a combined 77 runs scored and only three allowed in pool play. The 12U Broncos defeated another Texas powerhouse, Sandcrabs Baseball, in the championship game, while the 13U Broncos took down WTX Hitting Factory.

The Sandcrabs organization wasn’t denied in the 9U division punching its ticket to New York. Mexico’s Academia Gonzalez won the 14U division, ATP Elite claimed 11U, and the Tucson Royals took home the 10U crown.

Nearly every champion will be making the trip to New York to compete for their respective age division’s title. After hosting a popular event with teams following up their berth to play in New York, New Mexico’s first taste of the NYBC was a major success.

Cocoa Expo Sports Center hosted the qualifier with 35 teams coming from all over Florida. The Southwest Oakland Warriors 13U team even came down from Michigan to compete and enjoy some warm weather.

Kangaroo Court Baseball Club had a dominating weekend, winning two championships in 12U and 13U and going a combined 12-1 between the three teams that competed. The 12U team allowed just one run in pool play and made quick work of their two opponents in bracket play through power on the mound and at the plate. NYBC Qualifying Continues as Midwest Teams Earn Berths

After two successful events in California, the National Youth Baseball Championships journeyed to the Chicago area on March 25-26 for the next round of qualifying. Game Day USA hosted the two-day event at Heritage Park, a four-field all turf complex in Wheeling, Illinois.

Saturday’s pool play slate was rained out, but the teams were able to play on Sunday despite off and on rain showers. Teams played two games with the champions and runner-ups determined by tiebreakers (head-to-head, runs allowed, runs scored).

The Lincoln-Way Prospects took home two championships with the 11U and 13U Black teams both going 2-0. The 13U Black outscored their two opponents 41-0 in their two games. In a de facto championship game, the 11U Black defeated the Rockford Big Dogs, 5-3, to earn the NYBC berth.

Elite 9 Baseball earned the 12U championship with an 11-1 win over the Schaumburg Flyers. All five teams in the 10U division finished with a 1-1 record, and it was Wisconsin’s STiKS Academy earning the title with the lowest number of runs allowed.

NYBC qualifying heats up in April with 10 events, the first one on April 1-2 at the Cocoa Expo Sports Center in Cocoa, Florida. Check back to NYBCbaseball.com for updates on the Florida Qualifier, and tune in to Facebook for a Live stream of the 12U title game on April 2.

3N2 Named Official Sponsor of the National Youth Baseball Championships

Via PRNewswire.com

3N2, an Orlando-based designer and manufacturer of high performance athletic footwear and apparel, has been named the official uniform sponsor of National Youth Baseball Championships (NYBC) in a three-year deal with parent company, Steel Sports.

The National Youth Baseball Championships is the country’s premier travel ball championship for ages 9U-14U. Teams must qualify by winning a title at select events around the nation, and those teams then come together at the NYBC where one national champion is crowned.

Frank Zitaglio, National Director of NYBC, is enthusiastic about the possibilities the partnership with 3N2 presents: “We are very excited to partner with 3N2 as an official sponsor of National Youth Baseball Championships. We believe this partnership will not only elevate our organization as a whole, it will benefit our players and coaches on the diamond.”

3N2 will serve as the official uniform supplier of NYBC and feature in television, social media, and online advertising, be the focus of promotions and sweepstakes tourneys, and maintain a visible presence at tournaments in the form of booths and signage.

“3N2 is proud to be affiliated with an organization like Steel Sports and the National Youth Baseball Championships,” says 3N2 CEO Sean Murphy. “We echo their focused dedication to improving the lives of kids through sports.”

All World Sports hosted the National Youth Baseball Championships NorCal Qualifier on March 11-12 as five teams in 10U-14U punched their ticket for this summer’s finals.

The 12U championship was a tremendous game with PBT Combat earning a 2-1 win over the Lamorinda Vikings. Lamorinda scored a 9-7 win over Combat in pool play, but pitching and defense dominated in the rematch.

Perhaps the most impressive performance came from Athletic Edge Red out of Petaluma, California. Playing with just nine players, Athletic Edge steamrolled through the 13U division winning all four of their games, including the championship, by run rule.

The 11U NorCal Scorpions also turned in a strong tournament, going 4-0 and claiming their division championship. The Scorpions scored 38 runs and allowed just seven and defeated Athletic Edge North in the title game, 10-0.

In 10U, the Lamorinda Raiders topped the Tomateros de California, 8-6, in the championship after falling to them the day before in pool play. Show California Baseball took home the 14U title behind a powerful offense that scored 50 runs in four games.

All five division champions have earned paid berths to compete in the NYBC Finals at Baseball Heaven in New York. The championship is set for July 24-30 and will be televised on CBS Sports Network and streamed on MLB.com.

NYBC qualifying moves to the Midwest as Game Day USA hosts in the Chicago area on March 25-26.

First 2017 NYBC Berths Decided in Southern California

Over 60 California teams competed March 4-5 at the National Youth Baseball Championships SoCal Qualifier hosted by Xtreme Diamond Sports. Wilson MVP Elite (12U) and Top Tier Gamers (11U) won their division titles and claimed the first two berths for this summer’s NYBC Finals in New York.

The 13U and 14U divisions were also contested over the weekend, but rain forced play to stop in the semifinals. Both age groups will finish play at a date to be determined by Xtreme Diamond Sports.

In 12U, Wilson MVP Elite earned the eighth and final place in the gold bracket to complete for an NYBC berth. Right away they faced another powerhouse organization, the San Diego Show, in the quarterfinals and earned a 6-2 win. Facing the Chino Hills Thunder in the semifinals, the two teams turned in the game of the day going extra innings to determine a winner, as MVP won 11-8 in eight innings.

In the 12U championship, streamed on Facebook Live, MVP took control early and piled on runs late to win 19-4 over the So Cal Outlaws. With the win, MVP will make the trip to New York to compete for another NYBC 12U crown, the first of which they won in 2015.

The Top Tier Gamers and San Diego Stars squared off in the 11U championship, a rematch of their pool play game a day earlier that the Gamers took 7-0. The Gamers got up big early and held on for a 13-8 win over the Stars to claim the division title and the NYBC berth.

The Gamers dominated the competition all weekend long, winning all their games by no less than five runs. They scored 28 runs and gave up only one in their two pool play games and then defeated the Irvine Rox Black, Stars & Stripes Red and San Diego Stars en route to the championship.

Next weekend (March 11-12), the NYBC heads up the coast to Northern California and the Bay Area for the NYBC NorCal Qualifier with All World Sports where over 40 teams will compete for NYBC bids in 9U-14U.
